Dallas’ apparent logic in kicker David Buehler selection

Tom Orsborne, who covers the Dallas Cowboys for the San Antonio Express-News, explains in a recent blog posting that while Nick Folk has been outstanding on field goals for the Cowboys, he has struggled on kickoffs; it’s possible David Buehler will be handling kickoffs.

Or, I suspect, perhaps he’ll be Dallas’ new kicker if he excels at field goals and kickoffs during the preseason.

Still, I have a hard time seeing this as a great pick considering all the holes yet to be filled.

Dallas drafted a KICKER?! Jerry Jones, please tell me you’re joking

Ok, USC kicker David Buehler is a strong guy at 6’2″ and 227 pounds. But Dallas already has Nick Folk, who’s doing very nicely as a kicker.

Maybe I’m not in the “know”, but I don’t get it. Are they planning to convert Buehler to a wide receiver? Why not take another offensive or defensive lineman? Or a wide receiver?
