My thoughts on the November 2010 mid-term elections

…If you’re a Republican who’s disappointed Jerry Brown is again the governor of California, don’t be. Arnold Schwarzenegger failed miserably in his efforts to “compromise” instead of doing what he boasted he would do when elected in 2004–balance the budget. When GOP leaders fail to adhere to their party’s core principle of limited government and low taxes, they should not expect to keep their jobs…

…Ok, Republicans who were endorsed by the TEA party and won their races: get to work. You were elected because you promised small government, low taxes. Deliver, or in 2016 or so there will be a Democrat revolution…

…I like Sarah Palin and think of her energy and enthusiasm as something the GOP has desperately needed. I have heard from a reporter who has dealt either directly or nearly directly with her on several occasions that she’s actually a very intelligent woman. Granted, she sounded choppy in her early interviews, but please keep in mind that when Ronald Reagan first began his political career, his first speeches and interviews were said to be terrible…

…I did not vote for longtime U.S. House Rep Dale Kildee due to disagreements I have with him on the infamous stimulus, Obamacare, etc. However, I as a journalist have dealt professionally with him twice. He responds quickly and is polite and cooperative. When it comes to dealing with the media, Congressman Kildee receives an A+ from me…

…I wonder how long it will take before TV, radio and print journalists to start referring to the U.S. House of Representatives as “The Republican-controlled House of Representatives” on first reference? My guess is anytime they feel some problem is the House’s fault or whenever they butt heads with President Barack Obama. To me, it’s as despicable as referring to pro-lifers as “anti abortion” while giving those who support abortion the dignified “pro choice” moniker…

…Yes, it’s surprising that four years after Governor Jennifer Granholm easily won re-election in Michigan over businessman Dick DeVos, GOP businessman Rick Snyder easily won election over Virg Bernero. Now it’s time for “One Tough Nerd” to show us how tough he is and roll up his sleeves…
