Thank you, Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn for saying ‘No’ to Sonia Sotomayor
Kay Bailey Hutchison
These two U.S. Senators, from my home state of Texas, had the cajones to vote no in the Senate confirmation hearings of Sonia Sotomayor. Some would say it took courage, considering Texas’ large Hispanic population and how some Democrats in Congress were hinting it would be better to vote for the unfit Sotomayor or risk losing Hispanic votes in the upcoming elections.
Thank you, Senators Hutchison and Cornyn. I suppose 31 saying no’s not bad. That’s a 31% no vote.
John Cornyn, Texas’ junior senator
It really amazes me how quickly Sotomayor breezed through the confirmation process, considering her racial “wise Latina” comments and her rulings that were overturned by the Supreme Court.
As expected, Michigan senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin proved themselves liberal lap dogs and voted for Sotomayor.
