What ails the last-place, 6-10 Houston Astros?

Yes, I know the Houston Astros had a two-game winning streak snapped by the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday night, but if you want to know what ails the ‘Stros, this pitching line on Houston lefthander Wandy Rodriguez says it all: six innings pitched, 5 hits, one earned run, two walks, four strikeouts, a season win-loss record of 1-2 and an ERA of–I kid you not–1.80.

How on earth does a pitcher with a 1.80 ERA have more losses than wins? Three words: no run support.

Houston pitching might be improving, but so far the bats are ice cold. That’s why Houston’s in last place in the N.L. Central Division.
