Slow start for the Houston Astros: 1-5

Yes, I know sometimes teams rebound from low starts to win it all (such as the 1993-1994 Dallas Cowboys, who won the Super Bowl after starting the season 0-2). But with the Houston Astros? Saturday they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 11-1 with Albert Pujols clobbering two home runs, including a grand slam.

Houston’s had great pitching but lousy hitting, decent hitting with lousy pitching and in yesterday’s game, terrible pitching and terrible hitting.

Houston’s sole win this season, against the Chicago Cubs, came on a broken-bat-bases-loaded game-winning single.

My pessimism for Houston right now is comparable to Woody Allen’s pessimism for mankind. I figure Houston will have a sluggish season and owner Drayton “John McMullen II” McLane will whine about payroll and trade/give away more talent.

    Aren’t they 1 – 4?

Captain, you’re right–NOW they’re 1-5 after being swept by the Cardinals. Also, they lost Saturday’s game 11-2 and not 11-1. I was pretty sleepy and sloppy last night.
