Hollywood and politics

On his blog, Wil Wheaton is encouraging people to vote for Barack Obama. Since I venture to his blog from time to time, his support of potentially the worst president in U.S. history is of no surprise.

Since Wheaton’s acting career reached its zenith with the movie Stand by Me and the television show Star Trek: The Next Generation and he’s ostensibly trying to rebuild his acting career, his support for NObama is all the more fitting, I suppose. Not saying Wheaton’s not a true liberal (my guess is that he is), but I am reminded of how actor Kelsey Grammer–an outed Republican–revealed that while he was early in his career and on Cheers, he was ordered to make a $10,000 donation to the campaign of Democratic U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer–or else.

Kelsey Grammer has been outed–as a Republican.

One Hollywood actor, whom I will not name on this blog, confirmed for me once in an e-mail that there are conservatives in Hollywood who will pretend to be liberals to protect their careers. So, if you had this idea of Hollywood being an oasis of open-mindedness, time to wake up and smell the Starbucks.
