“Waitress” the movie

Waitress was, without question, the most bittersweet movie I’ve ever seen. As a film, I thought it was well-told, hilarious and very uplifting. Didn’t really like the adultery aspect of it.

As much as I liked this film, it’s one that you can’t help but watch without getting sad. The writer and director, Adrienne Shelly, was murdered after the film was made. Apparently, she walked in on a man trying to burglarize her apartment. He strangled her and in an effort to cover the murder, he tried unsuccessfully to make it look like a suicide.

So, because of this man, we’ll never get to see what other brilliant films Shelly could’ve made.
